We read everything sent to the support address. It is a small team, so plain, specific messages get answered fastest. Include the VIN and the page URL where it matters.
Typical reply within two business days.
Send the VIN, the page URL and what you expected to see. Manufacturer filings do contain mistakes and we would rather correct them.
Same address, and put "partnership" in the subject line so it gets routed properly.
Access, correction and deletion requests go to the same address. See the privacy policy for what we actually hold.
Things we cannot help with
Being upfront saves you an email:
- Whether a specific car had its recall repaired. Only the manufacturer knows. Call any franchised dealer for that brand with the VIN and they can check in about thirty seconds.
- Accident, title or odometer history. Those records are not public. See our guide to paid reports for where they live and what they cost.
- Owner names or addresses for a VIN. That is protected under the Driver's Privacy Protection Act and we have no access to it.
- Vehicle valuations or buying advice on a specific car. We publish general guidance, not appraisals.
Before you write
Most questions are already answered. The decoder homepage has a full FAQ, the guides section covers how VINs are structured, and the blog goes deeper on recalls, specs and used car checks.
Safety recalls
If you have found an open recall on a vehicle you own, you do not need us. Contact a franchised dealer for that make with the VIN and the NHTSA campaign number. The repair is free, with no time limit and no mileage limit, regardless of whether you were the original owner.
